Starting the course is exciting. With this post we want to welcome you to this course and tell you some secrets of our experience as international teachers.

Being an international teacher is so different and alike at the same time to be a teacher in your home country: If you like to teach and you are a vocational teacher, … you will like to prepare your classes with love on your summer vacation, thinking about what your students might like, how can you teach more motivating content, … you’ll want to see your students and meet new students. You will be excited to set up your classroom, …

That doesn´t mean that it is not hard, especially if you are a teacher in an international school. When the holidays are over, you leave your family behind, your country, … how many things you miss!
Being here means learning new and very different things … means having to prepare your classes in summer with great care, sacrificing part of your free time, because they are not the same things you have always prepared, they are new. Be aware that you are part of the teaching-learning process, that is, be aware that even if you are a teacher, you are also learning every day. Learning from your students, your colleagues, … but if you are a vocational teacher despite all this, you will continue typing your computer with your coffee and a smile. Because this effort is worth it.

And after summer work, it’s time to share. This year, the second year of our school, we are back with more energy and from the first moment, the CISS team works very hard to offer an education based on excellence, taking care of every detail for our students and families, planning our teamwork helping each other. “The new old to the new new”, “the new, new bringing a fresh breeze, new opinions and experiences to enrich our extraordinary staff.” We grow and that is good.

At the end, so far from home, your colleagues, your school is your family. I like to think of this as a way to teach children by example. IB tells us that we must work on attitudes of appreciation, commitment, confidence, cooperation, creativity, curiosity, empathy, enthusiasm, independence, integrity, respect, and tolerance. In the CISS family we express these attitudes every day among all the schoolmates. Because this school is a family.

In the end in an international experience as a teacher, even if you are far from home, if you arrive at your school and feel like a family, then you come to your own home. And even if it’s hard, you work with comfort, feeling valued and loved by your schoolmates, bosses, families and students, … then all the effort is worth it and teaching becomes a pleasure again.
Welcome to the CISS family!
