This week, the Teacher-Parents conferences have been taking place at CISS. Most of our students’ families have made an effort to come and meet their children’s teachers in order to be more accurately informed about what was reflected in their Progress Reports.
In PYP, our Homeroom Teachers arranged with parents the meeting schedules during the last week and some of the families have even appointed interviews with some Subject Teachers.
As we mentioned in our last post about the Unit of Inquiry Newsletters, IB states that a regular communication among the different stakeholders of our School Community is very important. In this case, the taught curriculum must be visible and the best way to show the students families what we do is by having them in our classrooms and to share with them their children’s work. In order to facilitate that purpose, our Mandarin Teachers and part of the Chinese staff have been assisting our Homeroom Teachers with translations in the meetings during these two last days.
However, the most important thing, in the Primary Years Program, is the ability to connect with our families by sharing both points of view about the students. Of course, we, as teachers have a huge responsibility to educate these children but it is something that can only be done in partnership with parents and guardians being involved.
Together we are better!
