Chinese poetry is a treasure among the houses of treasures within Chinese literature. The Four-Character Book of Songs, Five-Character Ancient Style, Tang Poetry, and Song Ci constitute an extremely magnificent scene in the kingdom of poetry.
On “World Poetry Day,”which was last week, the students read poems and hymns, many of which still have not given full expression of their views yet . This week, grade 5 Mandarin A students continue to travel in the midst of poetry in the background of fun competition, once again appreciating the charm and feeling the beauty of poetry.
This fun Chinese poem competition is divided into four sections. Students will use fun games and answer questions to sort out and review the Chinese poems they have learned in the 5 years of elementary school.
First competition : Kahoot online competition
Kahoot is an online assessment platform that can realize real-time feedback in the classroom based on fun and interesting games. The teachers have designed a series of ancient poetry activities on Kahoot, where the students can enjoy the ocean of ancient poetry all within the games.

Second competition :Finding poems according to the pictures
Chinese ancient poetry pays attention to artistic conception, some of which are beautiful and
varied, some of which are majestic and magnificent, some of which are gorgeous and slender, some of which are sad and desolate, some of which are bold and open-minded, and others of which are subtle and elegant, all with thousands of sights. A poem is a single painting or multiple paintings, and in addition to objects, there are emotions within them. Through the game of “look at paintings and guess the poems,” students once again experience the beauty of the artistic conception of “there are pictures in poems, and poems in pictures.”

Third competition :Treasure hunts game
Mandarin B students secretly hide the poem test questions in every corner of the playground. Mandarin A classmates are divided into two teams and set out to hunt for the treasures. The group that collects the treasures first and answers the most questions is the winning team for the round.
Fourth competition: Poetry creation
The students create poems in groups. According to the characteristics of the individual poem, the players will actively use their imaginations to complete the creationof the poem.
Throughout the competition, students must not only master the basic contents of ancient poetry, artistic conception, and basic literary literacy, such as who the writers and authors are, but also pay attention to teamwork, time management, and communication skills. This is also an application of IB ATL skills in the classroom.
